Entirely organic zippers, vegan and plastic-free lining, organic elastics, and much more
Our ambition is to make clothes using the most sustainable and environmentally friendly materials.
When choosing materials, in addition to evaluating their sustainability, we also think about what people wish to wear in ten and even 100 years from now. We love the idea of making timeless pieces that will last generations, improving with age.
True Hemp
True Hemp is defined by EU regulations as "fibre obtained from the bast of hemp." True Hemp fibre is the ultimate fabric when it comes to sustainability, offering built-in hypoallergenic and anti-bacterial properties. As a natural heat regulator, it also offers warmth in winter and lightweight, breathable wear in summer. Hemp is the best natural fabric to protect you from harmful ultraviolet sun rays. True Hemp is made from Industrial Hemp, a plant that provides the most efficient CO2 absorption available and is the fifth-best crop for contributing to biodiversity. Industrial Hemp purifies the soil it grows on, doesn't require herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides, and requires no additional irrigation aside from natural precipitation.
Tencel®
Tencel® is very soft, supple, and has an excellent absorption capacity.
Tencel® is the brand name owned by the company Lenzing Fibers. Tencel® is made from eucalyptus wood pulp. Its origins and manufacturing process makes it a sustainable and biodegradable fabric: eucalyptus grows quickly and does not require water irrigation, pesticides, and other toxic chemicals.
The manufacturing process is carried out using a natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable solvent (NMMO), which is recycled in a closed circuit with 99.7% recovered to be reused.
Bemberg™
We use Bemberg™ for our plastic-free lining. Its smooth texture makes it a low-friction material that nicely moves with the body, and its anti-static properties prevent dust and other particles from adhering to clothing. Bemberg™ is a made from cotton waste: after picking a cotton boll (the cotton cloud directly harvested from the plant), a cotton seed with many small fibres remains. These small fibres are called cotton linter. Cotton linters are normally disposed of, but our producers dissolve this by-product into a regenerated fibre. These fibres make up Bemberg™ yarn, a naturally biodegradable and compostable material.
Organic Elastic
The elastic we source is made from organic cotton and natural rubber, harvested from Malaysian plantations that are free of child labor.
Organic zippers
Traditional zippers, even metal-based hardware, contain polyester reinforcement. We work with zippers made of entirely organic materials! Our zipper tape is made of organic cotton, and the zipper teeth, stoppers, sliders, and pullers are all made of natural metals and their alloys.
Bias tapes
As decoration, we use bias tapes made of organic cotton.
